I am looking for information about the origin of the jewish families JACOB, JACOBS, JACOBSEN, ISRAEL in Germany (Friedrichstadt in South Schleswig).
This is, so far, all I know:
1. Aron JACOBSEN (FRIEDRICHSTADT). Originally called Aron JACOB or Aron JACOBS. Born 1752 in Friedrichstadt in South Schleswig. Died 21 Jan 1831 in Aalborg (Denmark). Got 1799 licence to trade in Viborg (Denmark) where he established a synagogue in a building rented from an attorney Kjersgaard. 1804 he left to Aalborg where he together with another jewish merchant Henrik Wulff Bendix founded the jewish community. 1812-13 he participated in the war against England/Sweden with a privateer "Oprejsningen" ("The Rehabilitation"). His tomb stone in Aalborg praises his importance for the community etc. but does not mention his parents except through his surname which is I think is patronymical (son of Jacob). His father may be Jacob ARON who occurs in the only existing census record for Friedrichstadt in 1803. He is referred to as an "educated" person ("Gelehrter") and may have been a Talmudist.
Aron Jacobsen was married twice. (1) His first wife was Philippine Philipsson NEUSTÄDEL (1778-1815), daughter of Philip Neustädel immigrated from Hamburg and the ancestor of the Danish-Jewish Philipsson family. (2) His second wife was Hanne (Hanchen) ISRAEL, born 1787 in Friedrichstadt as the Daughter of Levy ISRAEL and died 19 Aug 1830 in Aalborg. Further ancestry unknown.
