I am looking for information about the jewish family MONIES/MONIS in Denmark/the Netherlands (the Haag, Amsterdam, Leeuwarden, Antwerp). There are contradictions between the Danish and Dutch sources as regards the data of Samson MONIES and his children. It can far from be excluded that I'm trying to equate two different persons. Hence, the description below strictly separates the Dutch sources from the Danish ones.

From Danish sources, I have:

Samson MONIES. Born ca. 1758 in the Netherlands. Died 2 May 1824 (66 years old) in Copenhagen. According to the birth places of his children he must have lived in The Haag at least in the period 1786-1794. Maybe he moved to Anwerp or Amsterdam before leaving the Netherlands. Emigrated with his family to Copenhagen 1806, where he founded a tobacco factory. Married to Hanne ABRAHAM(SEN), born about 1764 (where?), died 19 Apr 1832 in Copenhagen. Parents unknown. They (he?) most likely had, at least, four children:

a) Salomon Simson MONIES. Born 1786 in The Haag (census records for 1845 and 1850 for Copenhagen), died 8. Jun 1853 in Copenhagen. Took over the tobacco factory founded by his father. Went bankrupt 1814 (due to the depression, "statsbankrotten", after the Napolion War). 17. May 1810 he was married to Frederikke SOLDIN. They had five children. A daughter Debora MONIES, born the November 6th 1813 may have been called after Salomon's mother (Debora RODRIGUEZ/PASQUAL) - provided that his father is identic to the Dutch Samson Monis mentioned below.

b) Isaac MONIES, born 1788, otherwise unknown.

c) Ricke/Rebecka MONIES, born ca. 1795 in the Hague (census records for 1845 and 1850 for Copenhagen). Married to the merchant Gabriel HEIMANN. Descendants: TEXIERE, HEIMANN, SALOMONSON, MEYER ... (cf. Hans Metzon: Den hidtil ikke offentliggjorte del af Legatstamtavlen Eibeschütz. København 1958).

d) Jacob MONIES, born ca. 1798 in Amsterdam (census record 1845) or Antwerp (census record 1850, erroneous age: 50), tobacconist, married to Sara NEHM (1798-1859).

From Dutch sources, I have:

Samson/Simson MONIS. Born 23 Apr 1763 in Leeuwarden (son of Salomon Isaac MONIS, 1714-80, who immigrated from Livorno in Italy to Amsterdam and later to Leeuwarden). Married 1785 in Amsterdam to Debora Isaac David JUDA RODRIGUEZ/PASQUAL (born 1768, daughter of Isaac David JUDA RODRIGUEZ and Lea BRANDON). The circumcision booklet Portuguise Jews in The Haag has the following births:

a) Isaac MONIS. Born July 4th 1789. Otherwise unknown.

b) Jacob MONIS. Born July 13th 1791. Otherwise unknown.

c) Ribca MONIS. Born September 9th 1792. Otherwise unknown.

d) David MONIS. Born August 16th 1794. Otherwise unknown.

I the two persons Samson Simson Moni(e)s are identic, we have to assume that he was married twice and that his 1st wife Debora Rodriguez was the mother of his children.
